What does a 12A certificate mean?

Films classified 12A contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Adults planning to take a child under 12 to view a 12A film should consider whether the film is suitable for the individual child. To help you decide, we recommend that you check the BBFC insight for that film in advance. Link below opens in new window.

Can I take a baby to the cinema?

We welcome babies for titles rated U, PG and 12A. But please spare a thought for our other guests – if your baby grows unsettled, step outside for a moment until they’ve calmed down.

Do I have to pay for a baby at the cinema?

Usually little ones under two years old get in the cinema for free. But if your baby enjoys the movie from their own seat, you’ll be asked to buy a Child ticket.
